Server Robustness and Redundancy

We go to extraordinary lengths to make sure our network of servers is safe and reliable. We embrace the cliché that you can't be too paranoid when it comes to the internet.

The servers which house our websites are high-quality, high-performance machines. We have multiple backup servers to cope with any problems. We employ rigid security measures. We make sure your site is hosted on a server which provides maximum performance for your target market. We constantly monitor our servers for outages, hackers, etc.

Our Network

We use a network of servers located in three different countries - New Zealand, the United States and Great Britain. Each server has a different function but all are linked in a cooperative fashion. This means that if there are network problems with one server, the others can take over various functions.

What Each Server Does

• Parsippany, New Jersy USA: Our main "www" server. Most of our websites are hosted here, as is our primary nameserver.
• Auckland, New Zealand: A shared server where we host sites which need to be in New Zealand. Also stores limited website backups from the USA server.
• Palmerston North, New Zealand: Our main administrative server, as well as our IRC server (for chatrooms), our secondary nameserver and full website backups from the USA server.
• Te Awamutu, New Zealand: Our office administration LAN, from where we maintain the content of our sites, manage customer support, etc.
• Castleford, UK: Another secondary nameserver. This doesn't host any websites, it just acts as a backup "redirection" service in the highly unlikely event that both other nameservers go down.

Important Note: The "networked" nature of the internet means that all web hosting companies rely on other companies to maintain their service. For this reason, no hosting company can guarantee 100% server access 100% of the time. There are simply some things which are beyond our control. However we believe our server network is unusually well-equiped to deal with internet disruptions.

In any case, we constantly monitor our servers and we will respond to any problems, keeping you fully informed.
